Itchy Coo
Itchy Coo is Scotland's only dedicated Scots language imprint. Led by writers Matthew Fitt and James Robertson, Itchy Coo has been making great books for children since 2002. Its main aim is to promote the Scots language in schools and to bring pupils back to reading books in their own tongue.
The imprint's back catalogue carries a large number of well-loved books including Katie's Coo, King o the Midden and A Wee Book o Fairy Tales in Scots. As well as original stories and poems, Itchy Coo has had huge success with Scots translations of famous authors like Julia Donaldson, Roald Dahl, David Walliams, Alexander McCall Smith and others.
Itchy Coo has recently published Elaine C. Smith's Glaswegian translation of Julia Donaldson's The Gruffalo, which is the imprint's 66th title.
Itchy Coo has visited over a thousand schools and libraries and its books have been read by hundreds of thousands of Scottish children and young people.
