Faroe Rum

00:00

Faroe Rum

Tom Anderson (1978) said this tune comes from the time when a thriving cod fishing industry was based on the Faroe Islands and tobacco and rum were smuggled to those islands for ‘home consumption'. One assumes that the smuggling was done by Scots fishermen who took the rum to Faroe, and brought the codfish home. This Shetland reel is played by the Kiltearn Fiddlers.
