There are Scots non-fiction reading materials available online.

The National has a weekly column in Scots (published each Thursday) and Bella Caledonia regularly publishes articles in Scots.

Reading these articles, and demonstrating understanding of them by writing about them or discussing them, is an appropriate means of progression towards the ‘Scots Language: Understanding and Communicating’ unit of the Scots Language award, where learners have to identify the purpose and summarise the main ideas of a Scots text.
